At the formal invitation of the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli, Prince Constantine attended the grand civic celebrations on 24 June 2026, marking exactly 200 years since the naming of the historic capital of the Cyclades.
The historic Apollo Theatre illuminated during the spectacular 3D projection mapping display, celebrating two centuries of Ermoupoli's cultural and maritime heritage.
The grand celebrations commenced with a magnificent 3D projection mapping presentation cast across the classical architecture of the historic Apollo Theatre. The dynamic display visually tracked the city's extraordinary journey from a fragile refuge for displaced communities into the premier cultural and shipping hub of the modern Greek state.
The portrait of Mayor Ambrosios Damalas projected onto the façade of the Apollo Theatre, honouring his historic role as the saviour and architect of the city's golden age.
In a deeply moving tribute to the dynasty's historical ties to the island, the historical projection feature paid special tribute to the House's 18th Head, and the island's golden age mayor, Ambrosios Damalas. Rather than a mere nod to administrative tenure, the display honoured him as a pivotal historical protector who steered the city through existential perils and his massive contributions to the construction of the city's structural identity and the Apollo Theatre itself.

Following the visual performance, the official celebrations transitioned to the historic courtyard of the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour—the very location where the city was named in 1826. The commemorative programme continued with solemn civic addresses, the unveiling of a custom bicentennial stamp collection, and an open-air concert featuring a brass ensemble and classical operatic selections.
Following the formal events, Prince Constantine joined the municipal authorities and distinguished guests for the ensuing cultural festivities, celebrating the shared history and the promising future of the "City of Hermes".
